In 1984, a building that once served as one of the state’s schoolhouses was given to the Nanticoke Indian Association by the state of Delaware, converted into a museum, and soon registered on the National Record of Historic Landmarks. Today, the Nanticoke Indian Museum stores numerous artifacts that give a glimpse into the history of the Nanticoke Indians. Some of these include jewelry, pottery, spears, and arrow points used by our ancestors in the past. One particular area of interest to the avid reader would be the museum’s library room where a number of books on Native Americans and the history of the Delaware and Virginia Indians can be found. Videos are also available to gather more insight into the culture and history of the Nanticoke Indian tribe.
